Allen A. Hall

Madison J. Farrington of Memphis went to Washington, D.C. on behalf of his brothers John C. and W.W. Farrington who sought permission to sell their cotton. He was caught by pickets attempting to cross into Union lines and jailed in Washington. Tennessee Congressmen Horace Maynard, Emerson Etheridge and Andrew Johnson wrote on his behalf. Allen A. Hall of Nashville worked for his release. M.J. was a real estate agent, 33 years old, born in Franklin, Tenn.
